The Great Lakes region is a freshwater paradise. It’s the perfect place to spend long days fishing, boating, tubing, jet skiing, swimming and so much more. Sadly, there’s no guarantee it will always be this way for future generations.
Overboard’s mission is simple–to enjoy and protect freshwater resources here around the Great Lakes. We have certainly done our part in enjoying our lakes, rivers, and streams all year long. But now as the warm weather comes to an end, it's time for us to focus on the other component of our mission–doing our part to help protect the water we love.
That’s where the 2022 Overboard Giveaway comes in.
To help encourage all our community members around the Great Lakes region to get involved, we’re hosting an amazing campaign to help raise awareness, inspire action, and collect donations while simultaneously giving people a chance to win an amazing vacation experience.
Here’s how it works:
Our Overboard social media accounts in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin will EACH be running a separate giveaway campaign with the prize of a FREE stay (or cash towards it) at top-tier vacation rental within each respective state. Yes, that means you have a chance to win up to three different giveaways!
Our partnered vacation rentals that are offering the free stay for each State's campaign are:
Michigan: Czechmates Escape (@czechmatesescape)
Minnesota: Ely Cabin Collective (@elycabincollective)
Wisconsin: Any! Get $400 cash towards a stay at any Wisconsin-located vacation rental courtesy of Stays (@midweststays)
For each giveaway campaign, you’ll have up to three ways to enter for a chance to win:
Option #1: Enter on Instagram
Step 1 - Find the giveaway feed post on Overboard Instagram account of your choice (or all three if you like):
- Michigan - @michiganoverboard
- Minnesota - @minnesotaoverboard
- Wisconsin - @wisconsinoverboard
Step 2 - ‘Like’ the post
Step 3 - ‘Follow’ the Overboard account that posted it AND vacation rental’s Instagram account (it will be tagged in the post)
Step 4 - ‘Share’ the post to your Instagram Story! This helps us spread awareness of the campaign and get more folks involved. If you’re selected as the winner and you have a private account, we will ask for verification (a screenshot) that you indeed shared it
Step 5 - For additional entries, tag friends in the comments of the post (up to 5)
Total entries possible? 6 for each state’s giveaway, or 18 total
Option #2: Enter on Facebook
Step 1 - Find the giveaway post on the Overboard Facebook account of your choice (or all three if you like):
- Michigan - Michigan Overboard
- Minnesota - Minnesota Overboard
- Wisconsin - Wisconsin Overboard
Step 2 - ‘Like’ the post
Step 3 - ‘Like’ the Overboard Facebook Page that posted it.
Step 4 - ‘Share’ the post to your timeline/page. This helps us spread awareness of the campaign and get more folks involved.
Step 5 - For additional entries, tag friends in the comments of the (up to 5)
Total entries possible? 6 for each state’s giveaway, or 18 total
Option #3: Donate!
Head over to our secure DonorBox donation page and donate at least $2 for an additional entry. For every $2 donated, you’ll get an additional entry (up to $50 for 25 extra entries) into EACH state's giveaway drawing.
Be sure to leave accurate email address information when you make your donation so you can be contacted if selected!
Total entries possible? Between 1-25 (depending on your donation amount) into each state's giveaway.
Are you ready to do your part?
There are so many ways to participate! Even if you choose not to donate and instead help by just spreading awareness and choosing the free options to participate (#1 and #2), you can get up to 12 entries for EACH state’s giveaway campaign. How cool is that?
100% of donations from this giveaway will be split equally among the three states and donated to local non-profit organizations within each that work to protect our natural resources and watersheds. They include:
- Michigan Non-Profit Beneficiaries
- West Michigan Environmental Action Council
- Huron Pines
- Tip of the Mitt Watershed Council

- Minnesota Non-Profit Beneficiary
- Wisconsin Non-Profit Beneficiary
Although our minimum donation amount of $2 is small, we feel that the combined actions of many thoughtful, caring, and responsible individuals will compound into something sizable.
Whether you win the grand prize or not, you should feel good about participating. Your involvement will have had a compounding effect by encouraging others to participate which will help further spread awareness and raise funds for this close-to-home cause.
